Desert Safari with Quad Bike: Is the 30-Minute Ride Worth It?

morning desert safari with quad bike

A desert safari already includes dune bashing, a camel ride and sandboarding, so it is fair to ask whether a quad bike ride adds enough to be worth it. In many cases, it does, because it is the one part of the day where you drive yourself, at your own pace, on open sand.

A desert safari with quad bike in Abu Dhabi is available in two versions. The Evening Desert Safari with Quad Bike Abu Dhabi costs AED 249 per person and lasts approximately six hours. The Morning Desert Safari Abu Dhabi with Quad Bike costs AED 350 per person and lasts approximately four hours. Both include a 30-minute quad bike ride in addition to dune bashing, a camel ride and sandboarding.

What the 30-minute ride adds

The quad bike ride changes the feel of the trip. Dune bashing is exciting, but you are a passenger while an experienced driver handles the vehicle. On a quad bike, you control the speed, choose your line through the sand, and stop for photos when you want. Thirty minutes is enough for most guests to get comfortable, try the dunes, and enjoy the ride without feeling tired.

The ride also suits different groups well. Confident drivers can enjoy a faster pace, while beginners can take it slowly and build confidence. Families and couples often find that the quad ride gives them a shared story from the day, because it is more active than sitting in a vehicle.

Evening or morning with a quad bike?

Choose the evening version if you want a full desert day, including a camp visit and dinner, plus the quad bike ride. At AED 249 per person, it is the better value if you want the complete evening experience. Choose the morning version if you prefer a shorter trip, softer morning light and quieter dunes. At AED 350 per person, the morning package is priced higher, but it leaves your afternoon free and suits travellers who want an early adventure.

Both versions still include the core safari activities, so you are not trading one experience for another. You are adding a driving experience on top of the standard trip.

Is it worth it?

It is worth it if you enjoy driving, want an active highlight, or are travelling with teenagers or adults who will appreciate the ride. It is less essential if you prefer a relaxed trip, have very young children, or would rather spend the time on photos and the camp. If you are unsure, consider your group: the quad ride is often the part guests talk about most after the tour.

For safety, follow the guide’s instructions, wear the safety gear provided, and keep to the approved route. Start slowly, especially on your first ride, and do not try to race other riders.

Booking is simple, with no upfront payment and free cancellation, following the same policies as other safaris. You pay on the day, in cash to your driver at no extra cost, or by card at the camp at 10 percent extra. Children below 3 are free, and children aged 3 and over pay the full adult price.
